“Outstanding service. They were extremely careful delivering the extra large container into our driveway.” -- A. L. GARNER
I still haven't heard from one who doesn't want this to move forward," Stark said.Minneapolis has had similar packaging restrictions for two years. St. Louis Park implemented a ban earlier this year. But four council members spoke against the measure, including Rebecca Noecker, who said it unfairly targets restaurants."We're exempting the big guys," she said. "We're exempting the big box stores that sell our refrigerator packaging and our shampoo packaging. We're exempting manufacturers, we're exempting hospitals and nursing homes."...

Explore packaging, plastics and more in Minneapolis November 8-9 during the 15th anniversary of MinnPack that’s co-located with 5 other exhibitions including PLASTEC. For more information, visit the MinnPack website .Why were these particular packaging vendors selected? Wooster: Bemis and Polykar are both leaders in sustainability in their industries, and recognize the need for cross-sector collaboration to address problems such as ocean debris. Wooster: Retain technology makes ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) and polyethylene (PE) compatible with each other, allowing post-industrial barrier packaging to be recycled without compromising performance or efficiency in processability. How many garbage bags were produced? Wooster: The collaboration has resulted in the creation of 300,000 large trash bags. The bags produced for the International Coastal Cleanup are opening doors for new, previously difficult-to-recycle packaging ...
To hear more about what everyone is thinking, Waste Dive interviewed multiple attendees of the recent Resource Recycling Conference in Minneapolis. Dylan de Thomas, vice president of industry collaboration for The Recycling Partnership, offered perspective on how this compares to Operation Green Fence. Bill Keegan, president of Dem-Con, and Kate Davenport, co-president of Eureka Recycling, shared their thoughts on the potential outcomes for smaller operations. Pete Keller, vice president of recycling and sustainability for Republic Services, discussed how he has seen this situation develop and why he thinks it may not directly lead to the creation of more domestic end markets, as much as some hope.
